In 2016, A Free Bird launched the powerful “I Am A Free Bird” campaign, centered around an inspiring song and music video featuring Falyn Vega—singer, actress, cancer survivor, and proud AFB alumna. The song was written to uplift children battling cancer, encouraging them to unite and “fly as one.” A pivotal moment in the campaign was connecting with Grammy-winning Sony Music producer Synematik, renowned for his work with top labels like Universal, Warner Music, and RCA Records. Godni was thrilled to collaborate with Synematik, whose expert production brought the track to life with a polished, emotional sound that resonated deeply with listeners. The final track was mastered by acclaimed engineer Ross Petersen, known for his work with artists including Bruce Springsteen and The Chainsmokers, ensuring top-tier audio quality. The campaign quickly gained traction online, with parents, children, and celebrities sharing heartfelt videos celebrating their own “a free bird” spirit through art and music. The song’s success extended to radio and was featured internationally in Closer Magazine. One of the campaign’s crowning achievements was a live performance by Godni and child star Falyn at Madison Square Garden, opening for the Women’s National Basketball Association—an unforgettable moment that amplified the message of hope and unity.

Under Godni’s visionary leadership, A Free Bird’s 2018 Annual Gala became a night of wonder, passion, and purpose. Themed around the color red—a symbol of the burning fire within every child the organization serves—the evening was a dazzling celebration of resilience and creativity.
In magical collaboration with Broadway, the gala featured Adrian Walker and Stephen Carlile broadway stars and lead performers from The Lion King, along with an array of singers, dancers, musicians, and artists who lit up the stage with their talent and heart. Every performance was a tribute to the bravery and spirit of the children supported by A Free Bird. More than just a performance showcase, the gala served as one of the organization’s most impactful fundraisers and a heartfelt moment to honor those who’ve made a profound difference—from devoted mothers and caregivers, to sponsors and creative professionals who helped uplift and empower these young fighters.
The night stood as a glowing testament to how far A Free Bird has come—celebrating not only what has been achieved, but the boundless future that lies ahead.

It’s always a thrill for Godni to witness one of A Free Bird’s children seizing opportunities and transforming them into stepping stones for something greater. One such moment came when Mia, an alumni of the organization, was selected as the face of A Free Bird‘s signature fragrance—developed in partnership with renowned Japanese fragrance house Takasago. Having previously worked with Mia during New York Fashion Week, Godni found it incredibly fulfilling to prepare her for this next chapter, coaching her for the commercial and watching her shine with grace and confidence. Supporting Mia’s growth as both a model and artist was a full-circle moment that reinforced the power of mentorship and belief.
Mia’s talents didn’t stop at modeling—she also blossomed in front of the camera as a co-host on A Free Bird’s online TV series, The Goods. With natural charisma, emotional intelligence beyond her years, and a sincere connection to the stories of other children, Mia brought authenticity and warmth to every episode. Her presence added a dynamic layer to the show, and she quickly became not just a face of the organization, but one of its most powerful voices.
Godni hosts A Free Bird TV Show

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, A Free Bird hosted a special fundraising event titled “A Night of A Thousand Flights”—a theme inspired by the countless dreams, hopes, and creative journeys taken by young survivors through the power of the arts. The night celebrated freedom of expression and the courage it takes to rise above adversity, one flight at a time. The event featured heartfelt moments from survivors, including a moving speech by child star and AFB alum Falyn Vega, who shared her journey with the audience. Alongside our team, Sara Coursey and I helped drive the live fundraising efforts by making calls and engaging with supporters during the event, which was streamed live across social media platforms. Childhood cancer survivors also took the stage to share their powerful stories, shining a light on the importance of creative healing and giving voice to a community that continues to inspire the world.

Godni served as the art director for A Free Bird’s inspiring music video, where he brought together children affected by cancer to create a deeply meaningful work of art. Beyond the music itself, Godni focused on guiding the children to express their stories through dance and movement, adding a vibrant visual layer that beautifully complemented the song.
The video also showcases artwork created by the children, giving them the freedom to choose and share their own creative expressions. Featuring these young artists and performers, the project highlights the healing power of the arts and celebrates the strength, imagination, and hope that A Free Bird nurtures in every child it supports.
